What Is the Right Kitchen Paint for House Painting in Concord?

What Is the Right Kitchen Paint for House Painting in ConcordPainting your kitchen may be stressful when house painting in Concord. The kitchen is one of the rooms that receive the highest traffic. This is where you prepare your meals, and sometimes the dining area is adjacent to the kitchen. Obviously kitchen is a place where elements such as smoke, oil, and grime occur.

Beautifying a kitchen with paint is both a challenge and an opportunity. It is a challenge considering you have to pay attention to the other fixtures such as faucets, sinks, counter tops, cabinets and shelves. You may have to remove some of them to facilitate the painting process, and this may take some work.

On the other hand, it's also an opportunity because it gives you a chance to make an otherwise utilitarian area look more appealing. It all boils down to the right kind of paint and paint colors that will spell a big difference to your kitchen.

For high-traffic functional areas such as kitchen, the most recommended paints to use are the ones with a sheen or glossy finish. There are different levels of gloss in paints. It's up to you on which one you use among the paints mentioned below.

1. Eggshell
This is a kind of paint which emits just a small amount of sheen. It is a cross between satin and semi-gloss paint. This is probably the most ideal paint to use, not only for the kitchen, but for all other parts of the house. Surfaces coated with eggshell paints are easy to clean, just like in other glossy paints. But unlike other glossy paints, eggshells are also good for hiding surface flaws.

2. Satin
Satin paints have the combination of matte of glossy paint. As it's called, satin paints give off a velvety appearance with only a faint glossy finish. Just like in other glossy paints, satin paints aren't good at hiding imperfections. This is also an excellent paint choice for kitchen walls and cabinets, as well as doors and windows.

3. Semi-gloss
Compared to either eggshell or satin, semi-gloss paints emanate a more noticeable sheen. While surfaces painted with semi-gloss coats make it easier to clean and wipe off, they're not very good at concealing surface imperfections. This is ideal for kitchens, as well as bathrooms and children's playrooms.

4. Gloss
This is a paint finish that has the highest degree of sheen. The gloss is so high, in fact, that it has reflective characteristics similar to those of enamel or plastic. While they are ideal for kitchen walls, paints with a gloss finish are also perfect to accentuate parts and fixtures of the house. As with other glossy paints, they're not also ideal in hiding surface flaws.

How about the ideal paint color for your kitchen? Again, it's up to you. It depends on your specifications and/or preferences. It is really frustrating and time-consuming to choose an ideal color for your kitchen since there a vast variety to choose from. Fortunately, there are certain colors that work in specific areas.

The ideal paint colors for the kitchen are white, gray, blue, red, yellow and green. White is usually an ideal choice since it tends to give total brightness to your kitchen. And it's also useful, too. A bright kitchen will help you better see your food that's being prepared, and also in spotting food spills, and sauce drops. Another reason for using white, if your kitchen space is especially small, a coat of white paint will give the illusion of a bigger kitchen.

Warmer and vibrant colors such as red are believed to stimulate one's appetite. Have you noticed that most fast food joints are painted in red? Now it makes a lot of sense; no wonder red makes an excellent choice for kitchen paint. Believe it or not, red is an incredibly versatile paint color. Various shades of red give off that visual vibrancy in your kitchen, either on the cabinets or walls. Most people begin their days in the kitchen, and such bright and vibrant colors in the kitchen give off an energizing mood.

Lately, gray has been seen lately as a good choice for kitchen paint. Since gray is neutral, it is generally categorized as cold or dull. However, with the right shade, it will make a big difference in your kitchen. Gray is best paired with other colors, making it really versatile. It is the perfect shade to build upon in kitchen, and is also ideal for cabinets or countertops.

Aside from red, yellow is also believed to whet one's appetite. Since yellow reminds people of the ray of sunshine, it will also make people feel happy and spirited in the kitchen. It also has a soothing quality that calms the mind. Kitchen accents using gray and white are best paired with several shades of yellow.

Green is also a good choice, as it gives a kick of energy to your kitchen. But at the same time, green also emanates a rather soothing, unhurried effect in an otherwise busy place. Green works best with white accents, and natural (or natural-looking) accents such as those made of wood. Mint, olive and apple green are the most recommended green shades for your kitchen. Green is most ideal for cabinets, accent walls, islands, or even floors.

These are some of the great ideas regarding choosing the right paint for your kitchen. Keep these tips in mind whenever you embark on a house painting in Concord.
