Home Painting East Bay: What Color Should You Paint Your Home?

Home Painting East Bay: What Color Should You Paint Your Home?

When it is time for the house to be repainted, one of the obvious concerns is what color should it be painted? With so many color choices available, the decision can sometimes be difficult. Having the house repainted the same color is an option. For individuals happy with their home’s color, this might be the best way to go. Individuals that want a change, however, may opt for something different.

A person must make numerous considerations before deciding on what color to paint their home. They include, but are not necessarily limited to, what colors are allowed (and not allowed) by their neighborhood association, if applicable, personal preference and style.

Below is a review of how to go about choosing a color. Individuals can choose one of the following ways. He or she can consult whatever painting company they decide to hire. Looking through magazines is an option as is driving around neighborhoods as is checking out other houses.

Home Painting East Bay: Color Considerations

  1. Allowable Colors: In some neighborhoods, the neighborhood association will determine what colors are and aren’t allowable. Homeowners must abide by these rules or face fines (or whatever punishment has been decided upon). It is important to determine what paint colors are acceptable before choosing one. Doing so can save a great deal of time, money and frustration.
  2. Personal Preference: Personal preference will also play a role in deciding what color to paint one’s home. A certain color will speak to a homeowner for whatever reason. As long as it is an allowable color (see above), then it shouldn’t be a problem.
  3. Style: Everyone has his or her own style. When at all possible, it is a good idea to go with a color or color combination that is true to that style. For individuals who aren’t yet sure what their style is, driving through local neighborhoods is a good way to figure out what one does and doesn’t like.

Home Painting East Bay: In Summary
Once a homeowner has made the decision to paint his or her home, they will need to decide what color to paint it. When doing so, a number of important considerations need to be made. The above considerations are a few. It will be important to determine which paint colors are allowed, if a homeowner lives in an area where the neighborhood association governs this type of things. Personal preference and personal style are other considerations that must be made.
