The beginning of a new year means a change in trends, even colors in house painting Pleasant Hill interiors. The trends are based on several factors, including what colors are being purchased the most often. Many major paint manufacturing companies also choose a Color of the Year from their repertoire.

The three top paint companies have released their Color of the Year for 2014. Benjamin Moore’s choice is their Breath of Fresh Air, which is a pale blue color reminiscent of a clear blue sky on a sunny summer day. Sherwin-Williams selected their Exclusive Plum, a dusky violet that “balances cool blue and feisty red with a splash of gray.” Pantone chose a brilliant purple which they dubbed Radiant Orchid.

Most of the trends for this year are neutrals, although a few brighter colors do appear to give accents. There are two main categories of neutrals – the light, pastels on the one hand, and the splash-of-grey, nature-based neutrals on the other. In fact, this division is particularly noticeable in the Color of the Year choices, with Benjamin Moore’s Fresh Air falling squarely in the pastel group and Sherwin-Williams Exclusive Plum rising triumphantly from the latter group.

Many paint companies have put their own spin on the current color palette with the release of new shades. Pittsburgh Paints brought out a new soft yellow, pale but luminous, that they labeled Turning Leaf. Glidden’s offering is Indigo Night, a midnight blue with a hint of purple, described as soothing and relaxing. Benjamin Moore, along with its Color of the Year, also introduced Sea Haze, a gray with a hint of green. Fine Paints of Europe brought out Rain Slicker, which mirrors the product from which it gets its name, in a high-voltage yellow color infused with a few drops of orange. Farrow & Ball’s Stiffkey Blue, named for a Norfolk beach that is saturated with this color, is a deep, dramatic blue. Valspar has a pretty coral pastel that is a sophisticated mix of pink and gray they call Salmon Run. Pratt & Lambert’s Sunspot is a golden yellow, like a marigold, that brings an authentic and wholesome feel to a room. Sherwin-Williams added a Classic French Gray that goes well with a large range of colors. Behr’s Tropical Tide bridges green and blue to create a gorgeous turquoise that feels like a vacation. Pantone celebrates nature with its Linden Green that calls out refreshing hope.

As you can see, paint companies choose a “color of the year” but then also come up with new paints for homeowners to enjoy. Using any of these trendy colors for house painting in Pleasant Hill will give your home a fresh, new look and feel.
