Ceiling Removal

Custom Painting Inc. will make the acoustic/popcorn removal process as easy as possible. You will be able to leave your furniture in the home, and we will move it and cover it. Other companies will ask you to take the furniture out of the house but not us. If you have no furniture in the home the price will go down a little. We do ask our home owners to spend one night out of the house so we can leave our masking up for the next step. If there is some reason you can’t leave the home for one night we can handle that in two ways. (1) We can split the work up in two phases. (2) We can take down the masking in the sections of the home you will need for the night and we will mask those areas again in the morning when we return. If you chose option 1 or 2 the price can go up slightly.

Acoustic removal will vary in price. The factors that can make your acoustic removal higher in price are painted ceilings, tall ceiling, vaulted ceilings, excessive furniture in a room, and wallpaper on walls. It is best to set up an appointment for one of our estimators to come out and evaluate your project. The estimate is free and only takes about 15 minutes.

We will remove and dispose of the acoustic/popcorn ceiling, and then we will float all the tape joints and nail holes. After the taping mud has dried, we sand the joints smooth, check masking and texture. We can provide a splatter texture or a knockdown texture. Both types of texture are sprayed on the ceiling. The splatter tends to be rounder because when we spray it on we don’t touch it again until it dries. The knockdown is a flatter and a little rougher texture because we will use a broad knife to slightly flatten the dome of the texture when it is about 75% dry. We can provide samples of each type of texture at your request.

When the texture dries and is lightly sanded, we will apply one coat of a stain lock primer and your desired finish coat to cover. Painting is optional.

We will replace your furniture, vacuum and sweep floors before we leave your home.
